This is the physical obverse of the "Camorra Gangs" 2oz silver coin. In modern numismatics, the obverse is often treated as purely functional, but for this project, I transformed it into an integral part of the cinematic narrative.
The design places the viewer behind a sniper’s scope, looking into the "Family Rotunda." This creative choice bridges the gap between legal tender requirements and thematic storytelling, creating a tense, immersive atmosphere before the action on the reverse unfolds.
Key Technical & Artistic Features:
Immersive Perspective: The concentric circles of the sniper reticle and the deep architectural perspective of the hall work together to create a remarkable sense of depth on a flat metal surface.
Architectural High Relief: The neoclassical columns and vaulted ceilings are struck with high precision, showcasing the grandeur of the mafia's meeting place.
Detailed Character Work: Despite their small scale, each mobster in the center is rendered with distinct attire and posture, maintaining clarity within the "target" area.
Integrated Heraldry: The Public Seal of Niue is elegantly incorporated into the lower part of the reticle, ensuring that the coin's official status feels like a natural part of the design.
Antique Finish: The patina highlights the fine lines of the scope and the shadows of the monumental architecture, giving the coin a gritty, noir-inspired look.
