Project: Sherlock Holmes – "A Study in Scarlet" (2023) Atmospheric Storytelling & Optical Illusion
•Reverse (The Crime Scene): A masterful translation of the first Holmes novel into a numismatic scene. The focus on the "RACHE" inscription on the wall (highlighted with selective color/gilding) acts as the narrative anchor. The composition of the interior, featuring Lestrade and the victim in the background, creates a multi-layered mystery that the viewer "solves" by looking at the coin.
•Obverse (The Magnifying Glass): This is a standout technical achievement. Using the magnifying glass as a central motif to "zoom in" on the Baker Street door while keeping the Tower Bridge in the background is a brilliant way to play with scale and focus. It demonstrates a deep understanding of how to guide the collector's eye. Technical Value for the Mint
•Perspective Contrast: The design successfully pits a wide-angle architectural view (the bridge) against a tight, detailed focal point (the door through the lens). This requires extreme precision in the die-making process to maintain clarity.
•Iconic Branding: The use of the magnifying glass as a recurring or central element establishes a strong visual brand for the series, making it instantly recognizable and highly collectible.
